The hospital called. They would like to keep Fallon one more night. She’s made many gains, but is still panting as though she’s got a significant level of pain. She will be able to continue on more substantial pain meds this way. They also referenced her bandage on her incision, and how it needed to be changed frequently, they would like that better in control.
My heart was saying I can handle all that at home. But my head was saying these guys know how much we want her back, they wouldn’t broach the subject if they didn’t feel it would be an enormous benefit.
So she’s staying one more night. I hope that’s all.
She’s made greyt gains. She’s walking more confidently, going to the bathroom without a problem, finally eating their food—so lots looks really, really good. We’re going to visit at 3pm. After that, hopefully the next time we see her will be to pack her suitcases and load her into the car to go home.
I appreciate all the support, you guys…we’re still on the roller coaster but I think the end is in sight and the new normal will start making itself known soon.

LOOOOOVE YOUR CAR AND YOUR LOVELY BACKSEAT DRIVER!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 DEEELIGHTFUL!!!
Bummer about not being able to come yet…but we’ve seen it before!
And yeah, if she’s still javing a lot of drainage that does require frequent bandsge changing. I have no doubt you could handle that, but not so much handling the pain like they are.
Vut you are soooo right….EATING, DRINKING POTTYING, WALKING…EXCELLENT NEWS!!!!
Okay, we’ll watch for your update later today!

So glad things are looking good!! I think the second day is great….I actually asked our surgeon to keep Sessy 2 nights because of additional bleeding problems greyhounds may have. Know you want her home but one more day better for her…and will probably be easier for you.
Now the important question….where did you get those greyhounds on your car….I need some!!!!

I know it’s hard to be apart from your girl, but she really is in the best place for now. You most likely have some stressful days ahead of you, take this time to be well-rested. The first couple of weeks were really hard for us and our Dobe Nitro. He wouldn’t eat for 7 days, and was in much pain. It got better shortly afterwards, I don’t want to scare you too much. And he went on to rock life on 3 legs for over 3 years. The best things in life are worth waiting for, you’ll be with Fallon before you know it.

She’s got this… it sucks but it’s likely best that she stay, if she is having pain they can help alleviate it more so and it gives her wound more time to heal and you both time to prepare for bringing her home. Hang in there and stay strong sweet sissy… soon you will all be together and moving onward and upward

Your girl will be home before you know it! She’s enduring the roughest part beautifully, meeting all her milestones in the best place for her right now. Once her pain is under control, she’ll be ready to hop right back home and start her new routine. Hoping tomorrow’s the big day! And btw yes, your car is awesome. 🙂 -Hugs and puppy kisses, Brittnie and Loki
